Marketing The Dark Knight Rises

In May 2011, the film's official website was launched, introducing a viral marketing campaign similar to the one used to promote The Dark Knight.

The First six minutes were shown to viewers of mission impossible: ghost protocol at the IMAX.

T-shirt competition, where the top 5 people placed will share the prize of £13,000. And the winner will be chosen by Christopher Nolan

When the official website was opened, an encrypted audio file played the noise of what has been described as chanting. When the audio file was decrypted, it gave a link to the film's official Twitter account. For every person who commented on the Twitter account, a pixel was removed from the webpage, eventually revealing the first official image of Bane.

Various clothing items including shoes, t-shirts, hats and wallets are also being produced

A Twitter account @Fire rises, the account that tweeted the first picture of Bane. Tweeted a document that took you to operationearlybird.com

A “CIA memo” was posted on Wired and says that the agency is seeking a missing Russian nuclear official the picture seems to be Alon Aboutboul who has been cast in the film. Transcripts between the CIA and a militia have been recovered talking about the doctor.

In the comments on Empire and some other forums online, some users are pointing to a mysterious script titled “Class Dismissed”, a 108 page script, of a scene which includes Dr. Leonid Pavel, the missing nuclear official mentioned in the “official CIA documents”

The Dark Knight Rises, and seems to add some credence to this post over at ComicBookMovie.com that suggests that the film could draw inspiration from the comic book tale 'No Man's Land', which sees Gotham ravaged by a huge earthquake. The film's working title is Magnus Rex, which also happens to be the name of a Norwegian experiment into seismic activity
